Preparing for Your Appointment

Thank you for trusting Hillsboro Medical Center with your care. Here’s how to get ready for your visit with us.

What to bring with you to your appointment

  • Insurance card.
  • Your preferred payment method.
  • List of all medicines, vitamins and supplements that you take.
  • Any filled out paperwork we asked you to complete.
  • Any medical records and diagnostic images that we asked you for.
  • Do NOT bring weapons. Weapons are not allowed at Hillsboro Medical Center.

Before your appointment

  • If you are a new patient to Hillsboro Medical Center or your insurance has changed, please call Hillsboro Medical Center Admitting at 503-681-1179 to provide your insurance and information.

Things to know before you go

    • 24 hour cancellation policy. As a busy health system, we try our best to see all the patients who want to get care with us. If something comes up and you can’t make your appointment, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice so we can offer it to a patient on our waitlist. If you miss 2 or more appointments in a row without 24 hours’ notice, we may contact you about no longer being a patient at our clinic.
    • Medical chaperones for sensitive exams. Hillsboro Medical Center offers trained chaperones for sensitive medical exams. A medical chaperone is a specially-trained Hillsboro Medical Center staff member who makes sure you experience comfort, dignity and professionalism during your exam. We will offer you a chaperone any time there is physical or visual contact with any breast, genital or rectal areas. Although, you can ask for a chaperone for any medical exam or procedure. You can also ask for your chaperone to be of a certain gender if it makes you more comfortable. We will do our best to honor your request.
    • Masks are recommended but not required at Hillsboro Medical Center and all clinics. Hillsboro Medical Center staff will wear masks if asked to do so by patients or family members.
    • We are a scent-free area. Please do NOT wear cologne, perfume or other fragrance during your visit. This helps our chemically-sensitive patients and staff.
    • We are a teaching facility. You might meet students learning from your care team. This helps us train future providers while we give you excellent care.
    • Language assistance services. If you need an interpreter for your appointment, we can provide one free of charge upon request. Just call your care provider’s office and ask for them to arrange language services for your visit.

Visitor Policy

Hillsboro Medical Center recognizes that support from friends and family is an important part of healing.

Here is the current visitor policy:

  • One well visitor at a time for most adults in the hospital and in outpatient clinics and if roomed in the emergency department (ED).
  • One well visitor at a time for most pediatric patients in the hospital and outpatient clinics and if roomed in the ED.
  • Support persons for patients with disabilities will continue to be limited to three per day (one at a time). A support person for patients with disabilities is not considered a visitor and, therefore, would be allowed in addition to allowed visitors in the hospital and ED.

In most cases, Hillsboro Medical Center offers an open visiting policy. To allow patients adequate rest, visitors are encouraged to visit between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

After 9 p.m., visitors must enter the hospital through the Emergency Department entrance and obtain a visitor pass. Patient care is our highest priority, guests may be asked to wait elsewhere or come back at another time to provide the best possible care.
