May 9, 2019—The Tuality Healthcare Foundation recently awarded scholarships to two Westview High School students pursuing health-related careers.
Theresa D’Silva is the recipient of the Dr. Marvin J. Robb Memorial Scholarship. Theresa is the daughter of Anthony and Georgina D’Silva of Portland. She plans to attend the University of California Los Angeles and major in Neuroscience.
Theresa is an exceptional student having taken twelve AP classes and four additional college courses during her high school career, receiving commendations as an AP Scholar. She scored near perfect scores on both the SAT and ACT exams.
Theresa is an accomplished pianist, vocalist, and violist having played in the Portland Youth Philharmonic, Portland Youth Conservatory, and several other music groups. She served as Student Director of the OHSU Science Ambassadors Program, organized a Math and English tutoring program for her church, and last summer she was selected as a research assistant in a Parkinson’s disease drug study at the Portland VA Medical Center.
Natalie Richards is the recipient of the Flo Rhea Health Careers Endowment Scholarship. Natalie is the daughter of Ezra and Lisa Richards of Beaverton. She plans to attend Brigham Young University and major in Exercise Science.
Natalie is an outstanding student having taken an impressive list of AP and advanced high school courses. Natalie is passionate about her future career goal of becoming a physical therapist and has proven her commitment to this goal through her involvement in Health Occupations Students of America, where she held the title of Secretary. She also participated in Westview High School’s Advanced Health Careers Program.
Natalie is an accomplished athlete, serving as Captain of the Cross Country team, and playing Varsity Lacrosse. She has been a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor for two years.
Natalie is President of her church Youth Group and dedicates her time to helping homeless causes in Portland. She also volunteers with Northwest Children’s Outreach.
The Tuality Healthcare Foundation offers scholarships to two local high school students each spring who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and plan to pursue a human health-related career.
