BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Kris Kumar is a board-certified cardiologist. His clinical and research interests include complex coronary interventions, structural heart disease interventions, use of mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices in cardiogenic shock, ACHD interventions and peripheral interventions.

He has published over 80 peer reviewed manuscripts and abstracts, and has presented multiple research projects at international society meetings such as the American College of Cardiology, Society of Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions and Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics.

After earning his medical degree, he completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona, where he was Chief Resident and Junior Faculty in the Department of Medicine. He then pursued a cardiovascular disease fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), followed by further subspecialty fellowship training in interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, complex coronary, ACHD and peripheral interventions at the University of California, San Diego.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his spouse, who is also a physician at OHSU, exploring the great Pacific Northwest and all the amazing restaurants that it has to offer. Dr. Kumar and his wife love to travel and experience new places, cultures and cuisines. They both enjoy medical education and are actively involved in training programs at OHSU to continue the mentorship of future leaders in the field.
