At Hillsboro Medical Center, the safety and comfort of our patients, visitors, and staff remain at the heart of everything we do. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a secure and welcoming environment, Hillsboro Medical Center has installed advanced weapons-detection systems at key entrances to our facility.
The walk-through system, similar to those at many stores and local venues, allows for a quick and seamless screening experience. We want to ensure that everyone who enters our hospital can focus on what truly matters, getting the care they need in a safe, healing environment.
“This initiative was not driven by an increase in violence or concern about danger at our facility. Instead, it reflects our proactive approach to safety and our dedication to continuous improvement,” says Eric Cooper, Security Operations Manager at Hillsboro Medical Center.
In developing our program, Hillsboro Medical Center has worked closely with regional partners and safety leaders. We continue to share best practices and collaborate with other healthcare and security professionals to strengthen community safety as a whole.
The new weapons detection system represents one part of our broader commitment to safety, which includes ongoing staff training, visitor management enhancements and emergency preparedness initiatives. By investing in modern tools and thoughtful processes, we aim to uphold Hillsboro Medical Center’s reputation as a safe, compassionate and forward-thinking community hospital.
