The Hillsboro Medical Center Foundation is excited to announce the recipients of its 2025 high school scholarship awards!

The Hillsboro Medical Center Foundation offers scholarships to two local high school students each spring who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and plan to pursue a human health-related career.

The Flo Rhea Health Careers Scholarship honors former employee Flo Rhea’s commitment to the future of health care by investing in the young people in our community. Meanwhile, the Dr. Marvin J. Robb Memorial Scholarship was established by Marlys Carter in 2007 in honor of Dr. Robb’s many years of service to the community.

Meet the scholarship recipients

Thi Nguyen, 2025 graduate of Century High School, was awarded the Flo Rhea Health Careers Scholarship. Thi is the daughter of Tuan Nguyen and Tinh Vo of Beaverton. Over the past four years, Thi has engaged with various volunteer activities and internships that have exposed her to the healthcare field, all while committed to a rigorous course schedule.

Thi served as Secretary of the Key Club and the Health Sciences Club at Century High School, interned at Virginia Garcia Health Center in Hillsboro, and completed certifications in Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy. Thi was team captain of Century High School’s varsity swim team and has been a swim instructor and lifeguard with the City of Hillsboro for the past several years. Thi was inspired to pursue a career in nursing after caring for her grandfather and plans to attend Portland State University this upcoming fall to begin her studies in the Pre-Nursing Pre-Professionals Program.

Rona Isakharov, 2025 graduate of Glencoe High School, was awarded the Dr. Marvin J. Robb Memorial Scholarship. Rona is the daughter of Svetlana and Arthur Isakharov of Hillsboro. Rona has a self-declared passion for the field of health care, and this is evident in a demanding course schedule of AP classes and extra-curricular activities. Most notably, Rona participated in the OHSU Partnership of Scientific Inquiry Program, a 16-week course on scientific and biomedical research that included a 250-hour internship in the OHSU neuroscience lab.

Rona juggled a rigorous course load throughout high school while also serving in multiple leadership positions, including Student Body President, President of the Glencoe National Honor Society, co-chair of the Hillsboro Youth Advisory Council and youth representative with Hillsboro 2035 Oversight Committee. Rona has completed her Clinical Medical Assisting Certification and plans to attend the University of Oregon this fall to study Human Physiology, where she plans to follow a pre-med track.

Congratulations to these two scholarship recipients!
