At your next visit to Hillsboro Medical Center, you may be lucky enough to hear a beautiful lullaby over our hospital intercom.

A special version of Johannes Brahms’ world-famous lullaby, “Wiegenlied” (“Lullaby,” “Cradle Song”), will now be played every time we welcome the arrival of a newborn at our hospital.

The rendition was created especially for Hillsboro Medical Center by our very own Therapeutic Musician Volunteer, Angela Reiswig.

She performs the soothing song with a Celtic harp, the same instrument she plays for our patients’ enjoyment each week as a volunteer at our hospital.

Hillsboro Medical Center’s Employee Wellness Committee worked with Angela to introduce this chime to our hospital. It is intended to bring joy to patients, providers, visitors, volunteers and staff on site at the time of a birth.

As Hillsboro Medical Center’s Labor and Delivery team delivered over 700 babies in 2022, there will be many chances for this celebratory chime to be played.

“We hope this chime provides an opportunity for all individuals in our hospital to pause and reflect on the cherished moments that happen within our hospital,” says Dr. Joe Hardman, Hillsboro Medical Center’s Chief Medical Officer.
