New moniker reflects expanded services, locations in Hillsboro, western Washington County, as part of OHSU Health

Hillsboro, Ore. – November 13, 2019 – Tuality Healthcare today announced it will adopt a new name, Hillsboro Medical Center, as it continues to answer increasing regional demand as an important partner in the OHSU Health system.

Tuality Healthcare has served the greater Hillsboro community for more than a century, first as Jones Hospital in 1918 and later as Tuality Community Hospital in 1955. In 2019, Tuality will continue to respond to the needs of the rapidly growing market as a comprehensive Hillsboro Medical Center.

“We have transformed from a community hospital into a medical center,” said Lori James-Nielsen, president of Hillsboro Medical Center. “The name change reflects Tuality’s commitment to prioritize the needs of patients in our community amidst Hillsboro’s industry and population growth. Residents living and working in Hillsboro, Forest Grove and across western Washington County deserve convenient access to the same health care services available in any major metropolitan area. At the same time we will honor our history and maintain our sense of community with patients and employees. ”

The name change follows Tuality Healthcare’s 2016 affiliation with OHSU. Today, OHSU Health, which includes Hillsboro Medical Center, Adventist Health Portland and OHSU, comprises three adult hospitals with nearly 1,000 beds, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and more than 50 patient care locations throughout the Portland-metro area.

Since affiliating with OHSU Health, Tuality has expanded services and clinic locations, providing patients living in Hillsboro and western Washington County greater access to primary and specialty care.

“OHSU Health is a reflection of years of clinical integration work in support of a shared mission to improve health and well-being through innovations in the lab, in the classroom, at the bedside and in our communities,” said John Hunter, M.D., FACS, executive vice president and chief executive officer of OHSU Health. “The unified OHSU Health system makes it easier for patients to understand their access to care includes everything from urgent care in South Hillsboro and Happy Valley to the latest clinical trials at the South Waterfront or Marquam Hill.”

Operating under a new name, Hillsboro Medical Center will remain an independent, nonprofit health care provider within the OHSU Health system. Patients will continue to have access to their same trusted providers and neighborhood clinic locations, and the medical center will continue accepting their insurance.

“Our community has an exciting future,” added Lori James-Nielsen. “As a part of OHSU Health, Hillsboro Medical Center looks forward to continuing our legacy as an integral member of the community.”
