The Tuality Healthcare Board of Directors approved $6M in funding to bring geriatric psychiatry to Tuality Community Hospital and to expand health care services provided in Forest Grove at their April 26 meeting.

Formerly located in Forest Grove, Tuality’s geriatric psychiatry program will be moved to the Hillsboro campus where patients will benefit from specialty services and acute care such as neurology and anesthesia, as well as have access to OHSU hospitalists, 24/7.  The program is being developed in partnership with OHSU and George Keepers, M.D., Chair of the OHSU Department of Psychiatry, and is anticipated to open in early 2019.

Services provided at the existing Tuality Forest Grove Hospital campus location will also be expanded and are currently expected to include primary care, a retail pharmacy, and physical therapy and sports rehabilitation.

“We look forward to developing a true health and wellness district for those we serve in Forest Grove and providing state-of-the-art care for our most vulnerable senior patients,” said Lori James-Nielsen, Tuality Healthcare President.  “All of us at Tuality are incredibly grateful to the board of directors for their vision and continued commitment to our community.”

OHSU has committed $12M in improvements toward new programs and facility upgrades at Tuality including expanded primary care, the remodel of a patient care unit, a unified electronic medical records system, new minimally invasive surgery suites, and neonatal and pediatric care.  The newly approved board funding represents a total of $18M in investments in the medical services Tuality provides to western Washington County.
