About this class

This is a two-week class that will meet online for two consecutive Monday evenings. This class requires a class packet that will be mailed to your home. Please register at least two weeks before the first class to allow time to receive the class packet. The packet includes a book, a link to online videos, and activities you can do at home. During our first session we will cover the signs and stages of labor, when to come to the hospital, and labor comfort techniques including positions, breathing, medications, and partner support. We will also discuss what to expect during your stay in our labor and delivery unit.

In our second session, we will discuss medical interventions including monitoring, induction and augmentation of labor, and cesarean birth. We will cover the risks and benefits of procedures as well as possible alternatives. Birth plans, newborn procedures, and postpartum recovery will also be discussed.
